Myanmar to launch 2019 bid round within weeks

MYANMAR is preparing to launch its 2019 licensing round as early as this month, with 33 offshore and onshore blocks on offer. Nyan Tun, deputy managing director of state-owned Myanma Oil & Gas Enterprise (MOGE), was quoted by the Myanmar Times as saying that the round will be more flexible than previous exercises in terms of the production sharing conditions, while the tender process will be transparent. The 2019 bid round will be offered to foreign players, and domestic companies are being encouraged to come on board as partners so that they can gain experience, learn new technologies and be protected from major capital risk.
