摘要

The issue in question is Disney and the film industry's joint request to have Congress pass a law requiring that copy protection be built into every content-using device. Jack Valenti, CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America in Washington, DC, leads the claim that the computer industry is to blame for wrongs inflicted on the film industry, especially by those who view films on their computers. The truth is that any law directed at controlling the computer industry will have no impact other than to make the US computer industry less competitive. Illegal videotapes and VCDs are not products of the computer industry. The bottom line: Both Asia and America would buy legal copies of movies if Hollywood would price them cheaply. Hollywood does a great job at high quality, but it falls short on price.
