摘要

The Advanced Tethered Vehicle program is designed to provide an underwater vehicle capable of recovering objects at depths of up to 20,000 feet. The Advanced Unmanned Search System (AUSS) is designed to perform search and object-recovery missions. It does not need to be tethered to a mother ship. The AUSS is expected to reach depths of up to 20,000 feet and be outfitted with an acoustic datalink that sends images to the surface launch platform. Technical evaluations of the AUSS have been completed, but the information gained will be put aside for the time being. The effort's intent was to develop the basic technology and transition it to other programs.
