Lone Star Chapter Dallas/Forth Worth, Texas, USA

AUVSI Lone Star chapter director of membership and public relations Jerry Kitchens "adopted" the U.S. Army's 4 Special Troops Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division (Shadow) UAS Platoon. (Read about the platoon in the May 2009 issue of Unmanned Systems in the cover feature article.) Kitchens purchased AUVSI memberships for all of the platoon members and is engaged in ongoing activities to ease their re-entry into civilian life. Since the division is based in Fort Hood, Texas, the platoon is now a member of the Lone Star chapter. Kitchens also made custom Lone Star chap-ter-diemed baseball caps and provided them to the platoon and continues to provide them as door prizes at chapter events. Kitchens is a pioneer in seeing the opportunity to match unmanned vehicle-experienced veterans with local businesses and universities.
