INSTRUCTIONS TO CONTRIBUTORS

1. The journal "BOLETIM DE BOTANICA DA UNIVERSIDADE DE SAO PAULO" publishes the results of original scientific research developed by Brazilian and foreign investigators in any field of Botany. Review articles and previous communications are not accepted.rn2. Manuscripts in Portuguese, Spanish or English should be sent to the Editor-in-Chief, IB-USP, Rua do Matao, Trav. 14, 321,05508-900 - Sao Paulo, SP, Brasil.rn3. Acceptance of manuscripts will depend on the decision of the Editorial Board, which will call on the assistance of specialists. The articles should contain only the information absolutely necessary for a proper understanding. Very extensive contributions may be published at the discretion of the Editorial Board. Fifty reprints are offered free of charge. Further copies may be obtained at cost price if ordered from the Editor at proof stage.rn4. Manuscripts should be submitted either in electronic form (preferable) or hardcopy (three copies). Eletronic versions should be provided for text and tables in Word-compatible formats (.doc), .txt or .rtf-files, for figures as pdf or tif files, sent on floppy discs or CD ROMs. All material must be double-space. Final version of accepted manuscripts and figures are needed in a digital format with figures, figure legends and tables as separate files. Original ink plates should be sent only after the paper is accepted. Each page of manuscript should be numbered. The front page must contain the title, names of the authors, their affiliation, short title and footnotes, if necessary, followed by an English Abstract (including the title in English in parentheses) and an Abstract in Portuguese or Spanish (with the corresponding title in parentheses).
