Ahoy from the Zumwalt!

The late Admiral Zumwalt's words are as true today as they were when he set pen to paper in 1962, and in no place are they truer than in the ship that now bears his name. On 12 April 2014, his daughters, Ann and Mouzetta, with their brother Jim at their side, christened the DDG-1000, imbuing the ship with the spirit of her namesake, Admiral Elmo R. Zumwalt Jr., the 19th and youngest Chief of Naval Operations in U.S. Navy history. Until that moment, the vessel had been known by her builders as simply "Hull 601."
