As part of its annual State of the Nation report, the Digital TV Group (DTG) found that total TV sales in the UK increased by 17 per cent during 2020. It’s not a huge surprise, seeing as viewers spent so much time at home due to various lockdowns, but it was the biggest increase in a generation. “I can’t remember the last time the UK was the number one country in Europe in terms of TV sales,” says the DTG’s CEO Richard Lindsay-Davies. “I think there were quite a lot of people who decided to buy a TV for the second room or the third room because otherwise the family was going to kill each other during lockdown!
