Transport for London (TfL) was the sole bidder for Metronet, which has PPP service contracts for much of the London subway network but went into administration mid-year due to financial strain. The PPP administrator, Alan Bloom of Ernst & Young, also confirmed that as a consequence of TfL's formal, undisclosed offer there would be no active steps taken to market Metronet. In a statement, TfL said its bid was formulated to ensure it would not see it take on extra net costs.
