One of India's most ambitious urban infrastructure projects since gaining independence in 1947, the Delhi Metro is fast approaching completion. TBMs are making their final breakthrough, the NATM sections are mucked out and cut-and-cover stretches are cut-and-covered. The rapid transit system redefined travel in India's capital. The first phase of the project is already fully operational and construction of the second phase is in full swing. Constructing Phase II is very ambitious as the entire project has to be completed ahead of the Commonwealth Games to be held in New Delhi in October 2010.
