Shanghai gets finishing touches

Tunnel fit-out work is underway to complete the Line 7 metro that runs from the centre to north west Shanghai. The 9km long tunnel is part of the line which will be 35km long with 28 stations. The line is to be opened, along with a battery of others, before the city hosts thern2010 World Expo. In the centre of the city, Line 7 interchanges with Line 4 at Dong An Road, and en route crosses a number of other metro lines. Further extensions of the line are planned to the south east. In 2010 the city will have another six lines added to its existing five.
