Police blitz catches 'disgraceful' trucks

A major crackdown on waste industry trucks in the Melbourne metropolitan area by police and WorkCover has revealed some disturbing defects. Head of the State Highway Task Force, Inspector Roger Sanders, said the exercise had shown there were some "disgraceful" trucks in the waste industry operating on Victoria's roads. Sanders said 66 vehicles had been issued with defect notices as a result of random checks on waste trucks.
