Clive Aisbitt referred to his report (see Appendix A) to Council and said that the figures for 2010 were much as predicted. As had been reported previously the figures show a deficit, however this had been reduced from just under £29,000 in 2009 to just over £23,000 in 2010. The expected deficit had been reduced largely due to stringent control on costs and no salary increases at Head Office. CA proposed a vote of thanks to Karel and David for their continued hard work and acceptance of the salary freeze. There had been a small turnaround in the Institute's fortunes which was encouraging in the present economic climate. This had been helped by tight fiscal control and a reduction in expenses wherever possible. As much as possible Institute business was being conducted by email; E,T&M and External Affairs committees met on the same day to avoid paying double expenses to people who had to attend both meetings.
