Morrisons to drive down costs and carbon

Morrisons has completed deployment of its Microlise telematics system across the 545-strong fleet of HGVs, and says it is expecting to reduce fuel costs while also maximising vehicle uptime and cutting carbon emissions. Nick McCurtin, head of central logistics at Morrisons, explains that the supermarket group selected Microlise's fleet performance and journey management software following a competitive tender. It was deployed within six weeks of signing the order, he says - and that included integration with Paragon's fleet controller system. McCurtin explains that the new system includes A-G ratings to measure drivers' performance on fuel efficiency, with ruggedised DriveTab tablets also used for two-way messaging and vehicle checks.
