Logistics operator Wincanton has appointed Autoglass to manage vehicle glass repair and replacement for its 3,700-strong fleet of commercial vehicles and 400-plus cars. The contract was awarded after a competitive tender, in which the "unquestionable service levels" of Autoglass were highlighted as a key factor. The deal runs until 2020 and covers windscreen repair, fleet checks and ADAS calibrations. Eleanor Biddiscombe, Wincanton's procurement director, says: "We have a large mixed fleet spread across the UK and required a supplier who could offer us unquestionable service levels across the length and breadth of the UK, while providing excellent insight into the management of our fleet windscreen repairs through their reporting capability." Fresh produce supplier Swithenbank has taken delivery of 15 DAF LF 18-tonne trucks fitted with Carrier Transicold's Syberia engineless refrigeration units, including five Twincool models for multi-temperature operations. Swithenbank, a trading arm of BFS Group, will use the units for its chilled and frozen produce contracts. The Syberia's engineless solution was chosen to prepare the fleet for compliance with inner-city delivery requirements on emissions and noise. Both types of unit are driven by the truck's Euro VI engine and Carrier Transicold's Eco-Drive power module, which uses a hydraulic pump connected to the truck's engine power take-off.
