Victoria's Regional Fast Rail Project

Work now is well under way on the Regional Fast Rail Project (RFR) to upgrade the four Victorian lines from Melbourne to Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong and Traralgon. These centres serve more than 500,000 people and each line carries significant commuter traffic from 'dormitory' towns to Melbourne as well as the usual 'country' traffic. The upgrade aims to provide a 21st century rail service for these regional centres and is claimed to be Victoria's largest regional rail infrastructure project in 120 years.
