Adelaide's Glenelg Tramline to be Further Extended

On 29 July 2006 the South Australian Government announced that it was planning to further extend Adelaide's Glenelg tramline, which is seeing a new lease of life after track and station upgrading and the ancient but much-loved H class "inter-urban" tramcars being progressively replaced by Bombardier Flexity Classic trams. The City - Glenelg tramline, the last remaining of about 23 tramlines that radiated from the City until the mid 1950s, terminates in the City at Victoria Square, about 700 metres short of Adelaide's main shopping strip (Rundle Mall), and about one kilometre from Adelaide Station.
