The opening on 23 February of the new electric railway from Epping to Chatswood is undoubtedly a significant event in Sydney's railway history. In the historical context it represents the culmination of an idea going back over a long period of time.rnThat aspect does not of itself make it very unusual but there is a curious link to past events in the form of an Act of Parliament relating to a railway which remains part of the statute law of NSW.
