On 19 September, an urban rail line opened for the first time in 37 years when services recommenced running from Penrose to Onehunga, near the northern coast of Manukau Harbour, on a line disused since 1973. There are stations at Onehunga and Te Papapa before the line joins the Southern Line just north of Penrose.
