Security in evenings on trains was increased after a threat of industrial action by train crews, following a number of incidents including a robbery. Veolia agreed to an extension of the hours of use of Maori wardens on evening services and improved communications between drivers and train managers. The wardens are starting work each night at 1900, the time when ticket collectors cease working.
