In an Australian Parliamentary first, the new Tasmanian Cabinet includes one member of the Greens Party, its leader, Nick McKim, with another Greens MP, Cassy O'Connor, being appointed Cabinet Secretary. Among other tasks, McKim will be responsible for a new portfolio covering alternative transport which includes public transport, alternative fuels and an investigation into the light rail link for Hobart's northern suburbs.
