Metro is very active in promoting services for special occasions. The long weekend in Hobart of 12 - 14 February, attracted a significant number of events: the Royal Hobart Regatta; the Hobart Cup; the International Wooden Boat Festival, with over 500 boats on display and a Sheffield Shield cricket match at Bellerive Oval. In the north, Launceston hosted its festival of wine and food. Metro extended its provision of services to the extent that a Saturday timetable operated on both the Sunday and the Public Holiday Monday in Hobart and Saturday schedules also operated in Launceston on 13 February.
