Renewing Brisbane's Ferry Terminals

TransLink is currently rebuilding some of Brisbane's ferry terminals. The proposal was well underway in 2014 with the reconstruction of the Bulimba ferry terminal, involving the use of a large pile driver, but now the task is focussed on the Regatta and Sydney Street terminals. Concurrently, work is underway on a brand new terminal and stop at Milton, where in late December 2014 work was advanced but still some time from completion. Mercifully, at Bulimba the historic BCC era timber cupola domed ferry waiting shed was retained. On 15 December 2014, Hawthorne terminal closed for a lengthy period for reconstruction work. The level of disruption is significant. For instance, with the Sydney Street terminal closure taking effect on 5 January, a large part of New Farm will lose both CityHopper and CityCat services for an indeterminate period of time. The public notices are unclear as to when services will resume, stating only that this will occur sometime in mid 2015, without even a specified month.
