The annual V8 Super race cars were again held on the Gold Coast for the Gold Coast 600 race series from 24 - 26 October 2014, but this time the events were markedly different as trams were also running down 'pit straight'. In a portion of land a little over 100 m wide from Main Beach Station to North Surfers Paradise, there was a raceway, grandstands, portion of the Gold Coast Highway not used as the raceway, tram tracks and a bikeway all running parallel along what is known as 'pit straight'.
