This handsome volume is dedicated by its author, Donald Insall, to colleagues in his Architectural and Planning practice 'Donald Insall Associates', to friends, clients, craftsmen, and all lovers of buildings old and new. It is a personal account of the work of the Practice, conserving and restoring historic structures and layouts from villages to town centres, with a foreword by HRH the Prince of Wales.rnThe author has drawn upon and expanded earlier publications such as The Care of Old Buildings (1972) and Historic Buildings in Action (published in 1974 by the Council of Europe for European Architectural Heritage Year). Earlier works are augmented with descriptions, plans, drawings and colour photographs of projects which have formed a major part of the work of the practice over fifty years.
