PDCF Fire Risk Analysis - A Bridge Between the Fire Hazards Analysis and the PDSA

The fire risk analysis supports the identification of an appropriately conservative facility design basis for fire propagation, severity, and control within the PDCF. This analysis provides the technical basis to ensure consistent treatment of facility fire hazards during design of the PDCF, and eliminates the need to design for a facility wide fire scenario. Without the FRA the large inventory of radioactive material within the PDCF would drive unnecessarily expensive controls to accommodate a facility wide fire event as the design basis.
