Remote Fabrication of MOX Pellets Containing AmO2 in Hot-Cell

An in-cell remote fabrication technique was developed for MOX fuel pellets containing three and five percent americium. A series of fuel pellet and the pin fabrication apparatus were systematically installed in hot cells to make fabrication flow easier. They were remotely controlled from a panel in the operation room outside the hot cell as much as possible.
