Challenges in Emergency Preparedness, Safety, Security, and Communications Challenges Post-9/11

In the United States, following the events of September 11, 2001, there was concern about the impact of a potential terrorist attack on a nuclear power plant and the ability of onsite and offsite officials to implement the emergency plan. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has focused efforts on communicating with stakeholders the various enhancements made to nuclear power plant emergency preparedness programs as a result of the terrorist attacks of September 11,2001.
