摘要

The FUELROD code was used to model a PWR fuel rod for three 18-month cycles at steady state conditions. The fuel rod design was optimized by varying the fuel-clad gap, plenum volume, and prefill gas pressure. The optimized design was subjected to a transient power increase; the end of life was found to be limiting with respect to strain.
