Influencing Policymakers to Support Nuclear Engineering, Science and Technology Education

Although the Administration proposed to terminate the program for Fiscal Year 2007 and 2008, both House and Senate budgets reinstated the $27M funding from 2006 in FY 2007. Since the FY 2007 budget did not pass, 2006 levels were applied under continuing resolution. Despite support from 24 senators to fund DOE University programs at $37M, House and Senate Appropriation Sub Committee on Energy and Water Development only funded these programs to $15 Million for FY08. Still, the Delegation views this reinstatement, as well as Senate Bill S.761, as an indication that advocacy work is influential.
