摘要

The passive reactor designs such as Westinghouse AP1000 and General Electric ESBWR do not provide an active containment atmosphere cleanup system (i.g., containment spray,' filters) to remove fission products during and following design basis accidents. Instead, the design relies on natural aerosol removal processes for deposition of fission products in the containment atmosphere, such as gravitational settling and plate out on containment surfaces through diffusiophoresis and thermophoresis to meet the radiological consequence evaluation factors in the NR.C regulation.
