Commercial Nuclear Fuel Cycle reprocessing resultsrnin the release of volatile radioactive gases. These gasesrnare typically composed of primary fission productrnisotopes including krypton (~(85)Kr), iodine (~(129)I), tritiumrn(~3H), carbon (~(14)C) and xenon. Although xenon isotopesrnhave very short half-lives and thus become stable duringrnnormal fuel cooling times, the capture of these isotopesrnhas commercial economic value. The resultantrnradioactivity emissions released in off-gas streams isrnaddressed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agencyrnin 40 CFR 190 by establishing annual dose limitsrnresulting from nuclear fuel cycle activities in therncommercial sector .
