Dynamic Response Analysis of a Scaled-Down Offset Strip-Fin Intermediate Heat Exchanger

In the present study, dynamic response of scaled-down offset strip-fin IHXs of PCHE type, subjected to velocity variations on both the hot and cold sides, has been modeled and analyzed. The temperature profiles of the fluids on the cold and hot sides and solid plates at the cross section of the heat exchanger block have been obtained. Heat exchanger responses to velocity changes on both the cold and hot sides are simulated and results appear reasonable. Experiments are being planned to examine the dynamic performance of this scaled-down IHX and to validate the models and calculations.
