摘要

Radioactive wastes are wastes which usually are generated by nuclear power and other applications of nuclear fission or nuclear technology.The uranium fission and nuclear reactor accidents usually lead to significant release of radioactive ions into the water and soil. Radioactive iodine-131 (~(131)I) and cesium-137 (~(137)Cs) can be easily dissolved in water, which are products of uranium fission, such as the accident occurred at Fukushima, Japan in 2013. These fission products found in waste water could make their way into the food chain. So the radioactive waste is hazardous to human health and the environment. The effective methods to manage radioactive wastes are required widely, however, methods currently used are complex and extremely costly.
