摘要

With a growing concern for how greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions impact climate change, there is a clear value in minimizing reliance on fossil fuels. Fluctuating renewable energy sources continue to penetrate the grid at higher levels. One means of ensuring a reliable electricity supply, while maintaining low overall GHG emissions, is to couple a nuclear power plant to the fluctuating renewable electricity source. Nuclear hybrid energy systems (NHES) focus on combining renewable and nuclear generation with industrial processes to ensure reliable energy generation as well as profitability of the system as a whole.
