Matrix Riccati Equation Method (MREM) of Solution of the Neutron Transfer Equation

A rather novel method of solution of the neutron transport equation has been presented. The preliminary results presented show that the solution is every bit as precise as the most precise methods previously developed by the first author. However, as applied here, MREM seems suited primarily for thin slabs, as r cannot be large. Thus, the role of MREM is for small thicknesses, where the three methods outlined at the beginning of the presentation generally give poor results. One possible improvement of MREM is to include continuous analytical continuation (CAC) in the TS. In CAC, the TS is continued with an initial condition from the end of the previous interval. This enables the TS to converge in a fewer number of terms with presumably higher precision and for larger slabs.
