摘要

The present investigation was conducted on aluminum cast irons having aluminum in the range of 5-25/100 Al. The broad objectives of the investigation were 1) optimization of alloy composition and inoculation practice for the production of as-cast spheroi- dal/compacted graphite irons, free from chill, and 2) determina- tion of microstructural characteristics of aluminum cast iron (5-25/100Al). An alloy approximately 5Al-3.5C-2.5Si composition de- veloped almost fully nodular graphite structure, free from eutec- tit carbide, after treatment with O.1/100 mischmetal and postin- oculation with 1/100 calcium silicide.
