摘要

A mathematical model has been developed to describe the kinetics of the cupola melting process in the slag layer and well of the furnace. Simultaneous reactions of the alloying elements present in the iron-based charge material, such as carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur and iron with slag and coke, were taken into account in the model. The model describes the variations in cast iron composition along the depth of the slag and with time in the well. These changes in composition are predicted, based on the kinetics of chemical reactions, mass transport and thermodynamic considerations.
