I have been reading the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development's 2008 survey UK Highlights Global Leadership Forecast 2008-2009 with interest. It does not surprise me that formal workshop training is the preferred method of developing leaders, nor that using an external coach is the fifth most popular intervention of UK companies. So why is it that while UK companies focus on aligning their training with business objectives, they are still unhappy with the results of their training activities?
