No serious technical barriers are hindering the deployment of charging infrastructure for plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) at residences, workplaces, and in public places, according to an interim report from the National Research Council (NRC). Examining the infrastructure needs for widespread adoption of PEVs in the United States, the NRC Committee on Overcoming Barriers to Electric-Vehicle Deployment studied automobile manufacturers and dealerships, customers, vehicle charging infrastructure, and the electric grid.
