Building the future the TCPA's manifesto for the 2017 general election

We all want a decent quality of life; not just for ourselves, but for our children and their children. We care about the places we live in and we want them to be somewhere our families can thrive. Such places provide affordable and beautifully designed housing, world-class education, health care, art, and a beautiful and accessible natural environment. They offer access to jobs and modern public transport, and they can respond to the rapidly changing nature of work and the economy. They are defined by social justice, with everyone having access to a decent home. They are places that support people's health and happiness. For post-Brexit Britain the question is whether we are going to organise ourselves to to build a fair and resilient society. In answer to this question the TCPA's proposition is simple: smart democratic planning is crucial to building the future. Far from stopping things happening, planning can help us prepare for the challenges we face now and those that lie ahead. It can do this in a way that enables communities to take their rightful place at the heart of decision-making.
