Forming a judgement on giants depends on one's perspective, as Gulliver may have commented about the Lilliputians while lying on a beach (see Swift, 1762). To Homer and the travellers he celebrated, most giants were anything but benign (eg Polyphemus or Cyclops, see Lane Fox, 2008).
