This book provides an in-depth overview of the issue of carbon footprint in tourism and outlines a number of approaches to its management/mitigation. It is a timely addition to tourism literature as the negative consequences of climate change are growing and the need to address the issue in a tourism context has become as vital as ever. This is not only because tourism is adversely affected by the implications of climate change, but also since the tourism industry makes a significant contribution to the global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (Becken & Hay, 2007), thus further intensifying the severity of this problem.
