In 2017 the Dordrecht-Gorinchem-Geldermalsen Betuwe ring line (also known as the MerwedeLingelijn) service was the subject of a new tender procedure which resulted a new contract being awarded in January to Qbuzz, the former NS subsidiary that has been sold to Busitalia, member of the Trenitalia group. This new contract is due to start in December 2018. The present operator also participated in the tender procedure as did Israeli-owned bus operator Egged. The new contract will run for a period of eight years with an optional extension. The contractor, Zuid-Holland province, will pay €23 million per year to the operator. Qbuzz will use the Stadler GTW EMUs currently operated by Arriva.
