Geotextile-wrapped sand columns successfully used for the Betuwe Route

摘要

This paper describes the successful application of geotextile-wrapped sand columns underneath an embankment. Over a period of 11/2 weeks, 6 m of sand fill was placed over 12 m of soft soil layers. Deformations of a nearby gas pipeline and the A15 motorway were kept to a minimum.
