More Top' EMUs for Trenitalia

On 26 March Alstom announced that it had received four contracts totalling €330 million from Trenitalia, for 54 Coradia Stream articulated 4-car EMUs for regional services, as part of a framework agreement for 150 trains signed in August 2016. The trains, nicknamed "Pop" by Trenitalia, will be delivered to the Italian regions of Abruzzo (4), Liguria (15), Marche (4) and Veneto (31). All are 4-car except those for Abruzzo (3-car). An initial 47 "Pop" trains (27 3-car and 20 4-car) were ordered in 2016 for the Emilia Romagna region for delivery from 2019. The new units will be capable of 160 km/h and can carry more than 300 passengers. They will be known as Classes ETR.103 (3-car) and ETR.104 (4-car) by Trenitalia
