Since the end of 2002 the timetable change in Europe has taken place on the second Sunday in December. EU legislation also harmonised the timetabling process which requires applications for the annual timetable to be made by early April - eight months before the timetable change. The infrastructure managers then have to produce the draft timetable by early August. This can be followed by negotiations in case of path conflicts so that the timetable is fixed in autumn. All this is prescribed in Annexe VII of the Recast Directive 2012/34/EU.
