The title speaks for itself. This is a handy guide to 101 interesting facts and features of the former East German Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) network in the DDR era. Each entry consists of one or two pages of text, usually with at least one photo. There are entries on some of the most distinctive types of train operated by the DR, such as the Class 119/219 U-Boot diesel locos, VT 18.16 trainsets, the prototype Class 252 electrics, and Ferkeltaxe railcars. Other topics covered include loco works such as Gorlitz and Meiningen, container traffic, train ferries, the Harz narrow gauge network, border stations, and "ghost" stations (i.e. closed stations located on West Berlin lines but on the East side of the Wall) on the Berlin U- and S-Bahn networks.
