Being the 'Other' in Entrepreneurship: A Study of the Contri- butions of the Often Doubly Discriminated Female Immigrants Across the Globe

The face of entrepreneurship has greatly evolved over time with lower costs of transportation and communication resulting in greater mobility of people across national borders and the consequential changing demographics of any given society as well as the opportunities available to its patrons. Entrepreneur-ship, particularly that which is small and medium sized in nature, has been associated with the sustenance of immigrant individuals and many an economy. Studies in entrepreneurship therefore need to investigate the nature of all its "faces," that is, the nature of a given enterprise, the attributes of the actors involved, the role of the primary and secondary environments in facilitating or otherwise hindering entrepreneurship as well as what further action needs to be taken on any concerns arising in the context of migration. As has been the tendency in many fields of study, entrepreneurial studies have insufficiendy considered the role and impact of women in the field and even more so the results of the interactions of the two phenomena-of being a migrant and being female.
