Surge in newbuilding activity

This year has witnessed a surge in scrapping in the crude tanker segment - the Aframax segment is no exception. Sixteen vessels were scrapped in 2017 until the third quarter as compared to just three vessels in the same period last year. With another three vessels expected to be scrapped in the fourth quarter, the tally for the year will be the highest since 2014.
