Commission publishes guidance documents on tolerances

The European Commission's guidance document on tolerances for nutritional labelling purposes was endorsed with no changes at a meeting of the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health (SCoFCAH) in December 2012. The document was endorsed at the same time as its guidance on methods of analysis for determination of the fibre content declared on a label (see story p21). Both documents have a potential to significantly impact upon labelling practices, and manufacturers are strongly recommended to review the texts.
